How It Started: Kristyna's Story

Discover Kristyna Hawkett’s journey through divorce and how it inspired MinusOne Club, a coaching service offering support, clarity, and confidence to those navigating separation and rebuilding their lives.

Divorce is often described as one of the most challenging life transitions, yet it is rarely accompanied by the kind of emotional support that makes it easier to navigate. For Kristyna Hawkett, the founder of MinusOne Club, this realisation came from personal experience. Her journey through separation was not just a legal process, it was an emotional upheaval that left her feeling lost, overwhelmed and isolated. But through this challenge, she found her purpose: to create a space where others going through divorce could find the support she wished she had.

Finding Her Way Through Divorce

Kristyna had always considered herself strong and independent. But when faced with the reality of divorce, she found herself struggling to wade through the sheer amount of information, professionals, and legal complexities that came with it. While her legal team handled the procedural aspects, she felt that the human side of her journey was often ignored. The emotional toll of separation, the grief, the guilt, the uncertainty, was left entirely for her to manage on her own.

One of the hardest parts was navigating communication with her ex-husband. There was little guidance on how to maintain clarity and cooperation while processing the emotional weight of the situation. The experience made her realise that while the legal system was well-structured, it lacked support for the very human aspects of divorce.

Motherhood in the Midst of Change

Amidst the turmoil, Kristyna’s greatest concern was her daughter, who was nine years old at the time. How could she explain the changes? How could she make sure her daughter felt safe, loved, and secure in a new reality where family life looked different? She spent countless hours worrying about how the transition would affect her child, agonising over every conversation, every weekend apart, every moment of uncertainty.

Looking back, Kristyna recognises that having a divorce coach would have made a world of difference. The guidance, emotional support, and strategies for navigating the difficult conversations could have helped her approach the situation with more confidence and clarity. But at the time, she wasn’t even aware that divorce coaching was an option. That realisation became the seed for MinusOne Club.

From Corporate Leadership to Coaching

Kristyna’s background was in the corporate world, where she thrived on creating connections, solving problems, and helping businesses build human-focused solutions. When she reflected on her personal journey, it seemed only natural to merge her professional expertise with her lived experience. She wanted to offer something practical yet deeply empathetic, support that would help others face the realities of divorce without feeling alone. This led her to complete formal training and achieve accreditation as a Separation and Divorce Coach (DCA). Kristyna is also a member of the Association for Coaching, reflecting her commitment to professional standards and continuous development. Combining personal experience with professional skills, she now supports others through their own journeys.

The Philosophy Behind MinusOne Club

Kristyna’s coaching philosophy is built on honesty, kindness, and empowerment. She believes that divorce, while painful, can also be a catalyst for growth and renewal. Her goal is to help people move through the process feeling empowered, calm, and self-aware.

At MinusOne Club, support is tailored to each individual’s journey. Some may need guidance in prioritising their challenges, others may struggle with communication or emotional regulation, while some might simply need reassurance that they are not alone. Kristyna’s approach is rooted in:

  • Recognising where clients are in their journey – Whether they are just beginning or adjusting to life post-divorce, understanding their emotional state is key.
  • Helping them prioritise challenges – Legal, financial, emotional, and logistical hurdles can be overwhelming, so breaking them down into manageable steps is essential.
  • Providing structure and clarity – Divorce can feel chaotic, but creating a roadmap can help ease fear and uncertainty.
  • Encouraging self-care and self-ownership – Reminding clients that their well-being is a priority and that taking charge of their journey can be empowering.
  • Building a supportive framework – A clear, evolving plan ensures they are making progress in a way that suits their needs and goals.

A Personal Mission to Support Others

What started as Kristyna’s personal story has grown into a deeply meaningful mission. MinusOne Club is about providing coaching and guidance to help individuals navigate the challenges of divorce with clarity and confidence.

Through coaching and access to trusted professional networks, Kristyna is on a mission to transform the way people experience divorce. Her goal is not just to help clients move forward, it is to help them build a future where they feel stronger, more confident, and hopeful about what comes next.
